George L. Richards 1921 - 2010 George L. Richards of Coto De Caza, CA., formerly of Long Beach, CA., passed away peacefully on November 18, 2010. George was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 66 years, Norma. George was born on February 11, 1921 in Ketchikan, Alaska. George served in the Service of the U.S. Army Air Forces, 1941, during WW II as a pilot, and after the war worked as the second generation at George A. Richards and Sons Insurance Agency from which he retired as President in 1986. During his professional career he was a 65 year Member and Past Master of Long Beach Service Lodge No. 594 F&A.M., 32 degree Scottish Rite and El Bekal Shriners, Optimist Club of Long Beach, Long Beach Insurance Association, Boys & Girls Club Long Beach, Boy Scouts of America, Community Rehabilitation Industries, Long Beach Community Hospital, International City Club, Long Beach Petroleum Club, and Goodwill Industries. George was an honorable man who set a high standard of integrity for his large family. He enjoyed flying, boating, RVing, golf, fly fishing, the Lakers, Dodgers and Angels. George is survived by his three children, Brent, Debbie, Bob and their spouses; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, all of whom George loved very much. A memorial Service will be held on December 8, 2010 at 2:00 PM. at California Heights United Methodist Church, 3759 Orange Avenue, Long Beach, CA.
