GRIGOLLA, Gilbert " Beto"
The Guest Book is expired.
Gilbert "Beto" Grigolla, a longtime resident of Azusa, passed away in his Rancho Atria apartment located in San Dimas on January 9, 2013. A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II.
Gilbert was born December 29, 1925 in Miami, Arizona to Gabriel and Maria Grigolla. He moved with his family to Azusa, CA in 1930.
Gilbert made a career as a general contractor, and became respected throughout Southern California for more than forty years. He managed Edlynn Construction and later was a proud owner/operator of Gil Grigolla Construction.
Gilbert was a passionate outdoorsman, a devoted family man, and a friend to many. He enjoyed annual hunting and fishing trips throughout the country. On one occasion he tagged a prize Elk which earned him the honor of making the cover of Western Outdoor News. Gil was always there for his children, putting them before himself and was extremely devoted to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When he could he would combine family and fun. Camping, fishing and boating trips along the Colorado River, Lake Mead, and the High Sierras seemed to be his favorite. Gil could never go anywhere without being greeted by a friend, as he always said, "I'm lucky to have more friends than money."
He was a well-liked and honored member of the "Barn Boys", a social club formed of respected businessmen at Hurst Ranch Historical Foundation.
Gilbert is survived by his sisters Stella Grigolla and Anita Bernal; three children, Sylvia Carrillo, David Grigolla, and Gilbert John Grigolla; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Gilbert was predeceased by his son Gabriel Grigolla and his brother Jesus Grigolla.
