Ilene Dice Obituary

Ilene Dice Ilene Dice (Goldkind) slipped away from this life in the early morning hours of December 2, 2010 and became the "stuff of stars". She lived a full and honorable life, facing challenges with courage and a wry sense of humor and finding joy in everyday miracles. She believed earnestly in working for the common good and was a devoted advocate for the underdog. She financially supported organizations that protect our environment and wildlife. Ilene worked hard her entire life. She taught history, worked for the Social Security Administration and spent that last 25 years working for her closest friend and "the brother she never had," James Cinea, in his accounting practice. Ilene was passionate about politics, the arts and her 1969 AMC Javelin, in which she took two cross-country trips. She was a fierce Scrabble player. Most of all, she was a wonderful friend to all who knew her. According to Ilene, her greatest accomplishment was raising two wonderful daughters, Emily Belzer (Dice) and Alison Dice - beautiful, bright, capable women. They filled her heart with so much love. There will be a celebration of her life held at the family's residence on January 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. McKenzie Mortuary (562) 961-9301 www.mckenziemortuary.com
