Isabella M. Nichols

NICHOLS-Isabella M. Nichols, died September 19th, 2010 at the age of 85. She was born on December 14, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Louis and Susie Santo who had emigrated from Italy. She was an only child who moved to California in 1944 where she attended PCC and received her AA in architecture. She worked as an engineer until she married Charles Burton Nichols in 1946. He passed away in 1986. Charles and Isabella were the founders of Nichols Egg Ranch in Arcadia. They started their business in 1959 on the corner of Santa Anita Avenue and Lucille St. in Arcadia. The business has since relocated to Peck Road in Arcadia and is still operated by their son Steve and his wife Kathy, along with Isabella's grandson Chris and her great grandson Nicholas who has just started working in the business. Isabella has lived in Arcadia for over 60 years. She is survived by her three sons, Charles (Michelle), David, and Steven (Kathy). She has four granddaughters, Mindy, Jamie, Dana and Katie and 3 grandsons, Chris, Brett and Michael who passed away in 2008. She has two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Benjamin and a brand new great-granddaughter Emily. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church. She loved to paint, work in her yard and above all dance. She was a member of the Temple City B & B's square dance club and would travel wherever there were dances held to be there. She lived her final days of her life in her home in Arcadia with the help of hospice and caregivers. The Nichols family would like to send a special thanks to one special caregiver, Char, whom Belle loved dearly and who made the last year of Belle's live a special one. Memorial services will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple City on Friday, September 24th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the following charities of Isabella's choice: The Los Angeles Rescue Mission or Habitat for Humanity.
