James Hughes

James Hughes James Howard Hughes died peacefully at home on Friday, August 27 with his two daughters present. Jim was born in Iowa Falls, Iowa on June 15, 1917 to Halbert Z. and Frances C. Hughes. He spent his youth in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He married Doris Irene Mueller on February 14, 1947. He is survived by his three children, Jeanette Louise Odle, James Hal Hughes and Ginger Lee Cloud; grandchildren, Andrea Begley, Dr. Dustine Spencer, Donovan Odle, Steven Rude, Michelle Rude, Amy Hughes and Amber Hughes; and six great-grandchildren. Jim's interest in flying never waned. He flew his first and last flight (at age 93 in July, 2010) out of Aberdeen, South Dakota. His love of flying initiated his long career with North American Rockwell for 41 years. He worked on the P-51, B-1 and all of the Apollo Lunar projects as an electrical test engineer.
