JEAN FUNK Obituary

Sunday, September 19th after a brief illness at the age of 82. She was born in Los Angeles on January 28, 1928 and moved to the Inland Empire with her family as a young girl. She graduated from Pomona High School. In 1948 she married Ernest Funk and the couple remained in the Pomona Valley. Jean and Ernie operated Claremont TV in the Village for decades with their business partners the Sieberts. Jackie Siebet remained a dear friend to Jean. In addition to being a fixture in the Claremont business world for many years, Jean was active in the community including being a member of the service club Zonta. Her 4th of July displays won several awards as well. Summers were always busy either spending weekends with the family and friends on their boat in Oceanside or entertaining relatives from abroad. After retirement Jean just focused her busy energy around the home. An avid gardener, she was known to be able to make anything grow. Friends and family would even bring their plants in distress for her to nurse back to health. Her yard still displays towering rose bushes, thriving with blooms of all colors. She loved sitting at her kitchen table, watching the hummingbirds dance around the garden, while visiting with either her life-long friend Rene or neighbor Christina. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Ernest. She is survived by her two sons, John Funk of Pomona and Will Funk (Lissa) of Claremont, her sister Ann of Palm Desert and Norman of Lake Forest and three grandchildren. Graveside services celebrating Jean's life will be held at Pomona Cemetery on Saturday, September 25th at 11:00am.
