Petersen, Joan Glaridale
Joan Glaridale Petersen, passed away on March 7th, 2013 in Pasadena, CA. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth
Petersen, former wife to Atron Gentry Sr., loving mother of Atron Gentry Jr., Christina Bryant and Amie Satchu and adoring grandmother of Yahn, Caylin, Micah, Benjamin and a baby girl on the way. Services will be held Tuesday, March 12th at 10:00 AM at Glendale Forest Lawn, Chapel of the Recessional, 1712 S. Glendale Avenue.
She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on August, 30th 1941, to Hilda Mercedes Prudhomme and Carroll D. Prudhomme Sr. She joined brothers Carroll D. Prudhomme Jr., Edward Wing Prudhomme and sisters Barbara Antoinette Henson, Rosemary Teresa Prudhomme and Carol Ann Prudhomme. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1942.
Joan graduated from John Muir High School, ultimately receiving a Masters in Education from UMASS, Amherst. She spent 14 years as a Children's service worker with the Los Angeles Department of Children's Services.
Joan was a stranger to none and loved by all. Spending time with family and friends was her favorite activity. This included Wednesday movie day with the "girls," meeting new people and her work with children as a social worker.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Foundation for Living Beauty can be made on her behalf.
