JOHN DONOVAN Obituary

John Donovan 70, longtime resident of Pomona, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2010; he was surrounded by family at his home in Sun City, AZ. He was born May 10, 1940 in Muskegon, MI and moved to CA in 1957. He attended Pomona Catholic High School. John, a member of the Millwright Union, owned his own welding business and worked in steel construction. From top builders to the apprentices he trained he was highly respected in his trade. He gave many men a head start in their careers throughout his lifetime. John never met a stranger and was loved by many, from corporate executives to the homeless on the street. He leaves behind a legacy of family and friends who love and miss him. His children, Joy Lynn (Joel) Morrison, Jodi (Randy), Will Donovan, Jamie (Al) Lopez, Louis (Amber) Donovan and former wife and mother of his children Jini Donovan, to whom he was married to for 27 years. He is also surived by 14 grandchildren, who each held a very special place in his heart. His siblings: Joan Kiss, James P. (Irma) Donovan, Patrice (Omer) Sager, William (Rebbecca) Evans, Pam (Roger) Wahler, Debbie (Arthur) Maldonado, Laura Kim (Wayne) Boucher, and his life long best friend, David (Joan) Kempton, and 23 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews who will remember their Uncle John. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Francis (Dunn) Donovan and Lorraine A. (Donovan) Evans. A private family memorial will be held to honor his life. In the spirit of how John lived his life, the family requests individuals who wish to honor his memory perform a random act of kidness, make a donation to a homeless shelter or to Hospice of the Valley, 9435 W. Peoria, Peoria, AZ. 83545
