Armagost, John Walter
On Saturday, August 24th John Walter Armagost passed away peacefully at home. He was 83 years old. John was born in Wichita, Kansas on April 25th, 1930 the only child of Walter Armagost and Clara Dunlavy Armagost. He attended Kemper Military School in Boonville, MO. In 1948 John met Neta Richards while she was vacationing with her family in Pasadena, CA. John graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Political Science in 1951. Neta & John were married September 8th, 1951 in Elmhurst, IL. He served in the Army Artillery in Korea. He returned to Stanford for his law degree and graduated in 1956. He joined Covington & Burling law firm in Washington D.C. In 1965. John moved to Los Angeles to head the tax department at the law firm of Kindel & Anderson. John served as managing partner for many years. He loved the craftsmanship of law. Everyday was a new adventure. He supported the Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, Midnight Mission, Pasadena Museum of History, the Salvation Army, and Stanford Law School. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing Bridge and Poker with old friends, being a member of the University Club Wine Committee,Ten Club, reading, and cooking for his family. He is survived by his wife, Neta; his two children Kathleen Anderson and Thomas (Toni); his grandchildren Diana (Paul), John, and Julia Kane; and his great-granddaughter, Natalie Kane.
