It was with great sorrow that I recently learned of the passing of Leandrus Benton. I had both the honor and privilege of playing football with Lee at Washington High School. I will always remember Lee as an exceptional athlete, a great teammate..., and an even better man. He will be missed.

To my dear friend Leandrus Benton,
Thank you for the always welcoming generosity you gave me over the years. Your open-hearted and fun loving nature was always a joy to be around-you had a way with words that always ended up with something to laugh about! You worked hard providing your family with security, love, comfort and understanding and never gave up your passion for life. Thank you for the light you leave in your footsteps. May the ones you love, who have come thus far with you, be able to fulfill your dreams.
You will continue to live in fond memories, Lee. We will miss your endearing presence. Peace be with you.

To the family of Lee Benton. I met Lee about 1964. Although we lost touch he would cross my mind on occasion. He was good friend with my godbrothers, Bumpsy and D. Jones. He was always a kind and respectful person. One who granted you your space. He was a kind and gentle giant who I'll always remember. He is never gone, nor forgotten. He lives in everyone he touched.
Yah's blessings be with his family at this time of sorrow.

To say he was sweet, kind, and gentle are just a few of his most valuable traits. "Big Lee" was an Enormous, Kind Spirited Man who never took life for granted, always putting others before himself. Our children were Blessed to hav such a wonderful Father. Rest in peace Poppa!!! Gone, but Never Forgotten!!!!

I remember Lee and my Dad (Melchor Marin) were best friends and as a kid we could be at his house on a weekend or Lee and Armando would be at ours. Lee was very entertaining and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He has seen me and both my brothers grow up. When he moved to LA he would come visit us every time he was back in San Francisco and hangout. There were no short conversations with Lee because he cared about the people he talked with. He will be missed very much. Rest in peace Uncle Leandrus Benton Sr.

I went out with Lee in 1974 and loved the way he treated me and my family, always gracious. We last saw him at his sister's wedding and he was the same as he was almost 40 years ago. Our family wants to send our deepest sympathy to Lee's children and other family members.
We'll miss you Lee!
