Louise Bandy Obituary

BANDY-Louise G. Bandy of West Covina CA died Saturday 9/18/10, InterComm. Med Ctr after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in 1916 in Atolia CA to Gaspar and Mercedes Gomez the oldest of 5-children. Atolia is now a ghost town in San Bernardino County CA. It was the site of a tungsten mine where her dad worked. Attended UCLA about 3 yrs. She was married to Frank, a real estate developer, who passed away in 1991. An avid sports fan of golf, Bruins, Dodgers & Lakers. Even after her eye-sight failed she would listen to TV broadcasters describe the action. She survived tuberculosis and other illnesses inc. a brain tumor which left her vision impaired. A strong-willed and determined woman. Louise spent summers in Turpin Meadows WY where she fished and hunted. She made numerous golf trips to Mauna Kea HI. Even after Frank died Louise continued to travel. She made 2-trips to Africa with James and Cindy. She attended the Olympics in Barcelona, Spain and the British Open with her niece. She is survived by son, Thomas his wife, Valerie and twin daughters, Jessica and Jennifer of Walnut CA; son, James and wife, Cindy and his 2-children, Jason and Marissa of Argyle, TX; brothers' Frank and Tony Gomez; sister, Marguerite Printz and brother-in-law, Carl; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11:00 AM on 9/27/10 at Queen of Heaven Mortuary and Cemetery, Rowland Hgts., with a Mass in the Chapel. Viewing 9/26/10 from 5:00-7:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Braille Institute Aux.ESGV at 741 N. Vermont Ave., L.A. CA 90029 or online at www.brailleinstitute.org clicking on Donate Now. In grey area specify donor's name and address and in Special Comments section note "in memory of Louise Bandy."
