MARGARET MALCH Obituary

Passed away December 22nd after a long battle with COPD. Margaret was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on January 8, 1929. She grew up in Highland Park, Calif., where she met and married her beloved husband Jim, who preceded her in death. They moved from Bishop, California to Mission Hills in 1953. Margaret worked for the Walt Disney Company where she retired after 33 years of service. She was active with her neighborhood watch group until her illness. For many years she and a childhood friend volunteered at Haskell Elementary school working in a kindergarten class. She often joked she was still in kindergarten and never graduated to first grade. She loved animals and birds. She would spend hours watching the birds visit her multiple feeders. She gave nick names to each as she would watch them eat and splash in the bird bath. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Hall and Harry Walton; son and daughter-in-law, James and Karen Malch; grandchildren, Jeff and Mara Malch, Kim and Cole Peterson; great grandson, James Thomas "JT" Malch; and brothers, Curt (Betty), Gerry (Linda) and Jerry (Peggy) Anderson and Denny (Dulce) Pafford. The family wishes to thank Daisy and Christine for their care and dedication to Margaret during the last five years. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Delta Society in the name of Barkley and Jess (www.deltasociety.org) or the American Lung Association. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 7th, at Our Lady of Peace Church in North Hills. Arrangements under the direction of Glen Haven Mortuary (818) 899-5211.
