Mildred Anderson Obituary

ANDERSON-Mildred U. Anderson passed away on Sept. 23, 2010 at age 91. She was born on June 18, 1919 in Beatrice, NE, the 10th of 13 children. The family lived in the Beatrice area most of her childhood. After graduating from Beatrice HS, she worked for the Supt. of Schools in the Beatrice School District. She married Harold Anderson in 1940 and had four daughters. Harold farmed the family farm, and Mildred was a member of the Board of Education for the Union Center School District. After two of their daughters tragically died in 1956, the family moved to Glendora. Mildred worked briefly at Aerojet General in 1957, then was hired by the Glendora School District. Her first job was at Citrus High, moving to Glendora High when it opened, where she worked until her retirement in 1972. She was known around campus as "Mrs. Anderson", a unit secretary, followed by working in the ROP program. She was predeceased by her husband in 2002 and daughters Mary Louise and Janet Rae in 1956. She is survived by her daughters Barbara Anderson and Shirley Stickley (Robert) and grandchildren, Bobby and Tracy Stickley. She enjoyed sewing and quilting with her friends, fishing and RVing, loved being with family and was a longtime member of the Glendora Church of the Brethren. She is a proud descendant of relatives who traveled to America on the Mayflower. Services will be Friday, Oct. 1, with viewing from 11 am to 1 pm and graveside burial at 2 pm at Forest Lawn Covina Hills. A memorial service will be held at the Glendora Church of the Brethren on Sat. Oct. 23 at 1 pm. Messages may be left at memorialwebsites. legacy.com/MildredAnderson/ homepage.aspx.
