REBECCA SILBAUGH Obituary

REBECCA P. SILBAUGH March 16, 1930 November 14, 2010 80, of Montrose passed away Nov. 14, 2010 at the Montrose Memorial Hospital. Rebecca was born Mar. 16, 1930 to Tommie and Neva (Strange) Parrott in Metairie, La. Her childhood was spent throughout Texas, graduating in Roseberg, TX. Rebecca attended the University of Texas in Austin for a semester pursuing a degree in music. Respectively having her own gifted voice of Opera, and having performed in her youth with The San Antonio Opera Company. Her career expectations were halted, having met the man of her dreams, Robert C. Silbaugh, a returning soldier and hero from the Korean War. They were married Nov. 1, 1951, celebrating 59 years of marriage this year. Rebecca and her husband, Bob spent most of their married life in San Bernardino, Calif. She was a homemaker, raising her family. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in San Bernardino and enjoyed the fellowship of many friends and family during that time. Rebecca and Bob moved to Montrose, Colorado in 1996. They were so happy to be in Montrose and become very active in the community. They were members of the Good Sam's Camping Club and enjoyed many outings with their group. Becky's true passion was volunteering for Hospice. Becky will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Surviving family members include her beloved husband of 59 years, Robert "Bob" Silbaugh; daughter, Melissa Chapple of Montrose; son, Thomas Silbaugh of Fontana, Calif. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, Co 81401. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose.
