Robert Joyce Obituary

JOYCE-Robert Nelson Joyce, or "Bob", was born in Port Huron, Michigan on July 12, 1929 and passed away quietly in the arms of his family on Sunday, September 5th. He will be missed by Betty, his wife of 56 years; his son Chris and wife Heather; daughter Laura Grinstead and husband Tom; and 4 grandchildren Lindsey, Julianne, Brandon and Tanner. Bob was a wonderful husband, dad, son, friend and grandpa. His life was full and vibrant, and he will be remembered for his quick wit, depth of character, and steadfast heart. God was first in his life, followed closely by his precious family. Professionally, his career as a journalist began in the Navy, then continued as a reporter for the Port Huron Times Herald. He entered Michigan State University to hone his writing and speaking skills and graduated with honors in 1956 with a degree in Communications Arts. He worked at several Los Angeles television stations and a TV magazine before launching his 35 year career with several airlines as Director of Public Relations including Japan, Korean, and Pan American Airlines. He retired in 1992 after operating his own PR consulting firm to travel related agencies and businesses. Bob and his wife retired together in 1992 and moved to Sun Lakes County Club in Banning, California where he continued to enjoy travel, golf, walking and reading. He moved to Danville 5 years ago to be closer to his children and grandkids. Services honoring Bob will be held on Saturday, October 2 at 1:00 PM at Community Presbyterian Church in Danville.
