It's a couple of days after Christmas, 2010, and my son, a Captain in the US Army in Iraq (and one of Ron's many Eagle Scouts), just sent me the devastating news.
Although Ron and I hadn't stayed in touch in recent years (the last time was a lunch Ron and I enjoyed when he was just starting out in his new financial planning career), the sense of loss at his passing is no less acute.
Ron and I were frequent partners in crime on many a scout outing. I remember fondly playing "pirate" with him on the Kern River and drenching the kids (and adults) in other rafts that were a part of our "convoy." There was also a memorable adults-only skit around the campfire on Catalina Island in which Ron and several others were the fishermen and I was the fish. The memories are legion and every one of them brings a smile to my face . . . Ron was that kind of man: gentle, caring, giving, funloving and kind.
There is a Yiddish word that is reserved for only the most virtuous among us. That word is "mensch." And Ron Kroeze was truly a mensch in every sense of the word. The world is a far poorer place because of his passing.
Our deepest sympathy to those Ron left behind.

I met Ron 4 years ago at tax time. He was a true advocate for us seniors as well as a kind man with a good spirit. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Ron was a dedicated Scoutmaster for many years and contributed to the success of so many young men in Scouting in the Laguna Niguel area, our three sons included. He was a very giving person, who loved to have fun. The entire Troop will always remember your dutch oven cobbler.

Ron unselfishly donated hundreds of hours to the AARP TaxAide program, serving as a Counselor, Instructor, and Technical Specialist for the CA5 State Management Team.
No one in this organization was held in higher esteem than Ron Kroeze.

Dad #2. He always made me feel like daughter #2. Shawna and I went everywhere together. I will never forget the weekend trips to the cabin. He always made sure we had a good time. I'm sure we drove him nuts a few times, but that's what daughters are for! :) He was always very thoughtful. He will be missed very much. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Words could never express how great of a man Ron was. I am truly going to miss him and the devotion and strength he put into everything.
I worked with Ron for 3 years I managed properties for him in the Charlotte NC areas. He was truly one I considered a friend.
