Obituary Condolences

Sally Ann Bagdon

June 22, 1943 - March 8, 2013

Sarah, better known as Sally Ann Bagdon, was born on June 22, 1943 in Brookline, Massachusetts to her parents, Francis Patrick Meade and Gertrude Hansen Meade. She grew up in the towns of Mattapan and Dorchester before her family moved to Long Beach, California, when she was thirteen. She graduated from Millikan High School then married and had two sons, Tony DeSmet and Mike DeSmet. Both her sons now live in Long Beach, California. Sally's motto was "ENJOY LIFE" and she lived life to the fullest! Over the many places she lived (Lakewood, CA; Mission Viejo, CA; Prescott, AZ; Cape Cod, MA; La Quinta, CA), Sally always made many friends. While living in Cape Code, Sally became very close to her cousin Ann Dunnigan and her family from her mother's side of the family. She loved the cape and had great times on Nantucket Island each summer. Sally was a loving and kind person and always enjoyed the company of her friends and family. Sally was a beautiful person, inside and out. She is survived by her sister, Sue Gary who lives in Lake Forest, CA; and her brother, Jim Meade who lives in Tucson, AZ. The brothers and sisters were always very close and family meant the world to them. Sally also had two beautiful granddaughters, Julia and Caroline, who she loved very much and was always talking about them and showing pictures of them to all her friends. They live in Long Beach, CA and she spent her last Christmas with her sons and grandchildren. That meant so much to her. The friends Sally made in the desert stood by her and took care of her to the very end. They were true friends and they will truly miss Sally and the friendship they shared. Sally was diagnosed with cancer about one year ago and she fought a long hard battle against this disease. The strength she showed was amazing. She showed us all what kind of person she was – she was not going to give up until the very end. Sally's family and friends will always have wonderful memories of the times they shared with her. We will be so ever grateful that she touched our lives for the time we had with her. Sally passed away in the early morning of Friday March 8th comfortably at home with her husband, Al. She is now at peace – the fight is over. Mass is scheduled for April 19, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, at 10:00 a.m. Location is 47-225 Washington St., La Quinta, CA 92253, (760) 564-1255.
