Simon B. Salas

Simon B. Salas 1925-2010 Simon B. Salas, of Los Alamitos, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2010. Simon was born in Mogollon, NM on August 20, 1925. He came to California in 1940 and was married in 1943 at St. Isidore's Catholic Church. He served his country in the US Army from 1944 to 1945 in the South Pacific, New Guinea and Philippines. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and served as usher at St. Hedwig's parish for over forty years forming many lifelong friendships. Simon was a devoted family man, loving husband, father and grandfather, and a dear friend to many. He was an avid sportsman with his favorite game being golf. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Simon is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen; daughters, Marian Serna, Olivia Salas, Susan Vega and Sandra Salas; son-in-law, Ernest; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Visitation will be at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 11482 Los Alamitos Blvd, Los Alamitos, CA on Tuesday October 12, 2010 6-9 p.m., rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass on Wednesday, October 13 at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow at All Souls Cemetery.
