November 18, 2013

After a 2 1/2 year fight with cancer, Suzanne passed away peacefully at home on November 18th, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tom; as well as sons, Ron, Jim, and Tim; and daughter, Jennifer. She is also survived by her beloved daughters-in-law, Lissette (Ron), Erin (Jim), and Jill (Tim); and her son in law, Jeff (Jennifer); as well as her 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Madison, Sydney, Jack, Allie, Hunter, Cooper, Isabella, Phoebe, Romi and Sofia; and her great granddaughter, Lena. She was simply "the best" wife, mother, and grandmother there ever was. Suzanne was born in Montreal, Canada and came to the U.S. in 1958, where she lived in South West LA. She met Tom in 1962 and they married and started their family. They moved to Long Beach in 1967 where she lived a full life until her passing in the home she decorated and loved so much. She, Tom, and the kids were blessed to spend weekends at their homes-away-from-home in the desert, Laguna Beach, and the barn they built in Diamond Valley. All four children bought homes within a mile of Mom and Dad, and soon these weekends included grandkids, friends, and extended family. Suzanne was at her happiest when everyone was together and she always had a camera in hand and a smile on her face. In her free time she loved to garage sale and bake, and everyone who knew her was bestowed with goodies from those two passions. She was also a strong supporter of AA for over 35 years. In addition to many return trips to her homeland Canada she was so happy to go on her trip of a lifetime, to Paris, with her sister Louise. It was very important to Suzanne that they have a family reunion in May celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, and almost two hundred family members and friends came to celebrate. In addition to countless cousins, nieces, and nephews, she is also survived by her sister, Louise; and two brothers, Mike and Rene. She was able to visit them in Montreal 3 weeks before her death as a fond farewell. Suzanne was a beautiful, strong, and amazing woman whose death was a major blow to her family. She loved and was loved, and will be missed more than imaginable. Bon Voyage my "little French girl"... Services will be December 14th at 11a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 6220 E. Willow St., Long Beach.
