Virginia Salcido Obituary

SALCIDO-Virginia G. Salcido, long time resident of Pasadena and Altadena passed away on Oct 28 in Victorville, Ca. She was born in Pasadena on Jul 18, 1919 and grew up there, attending local schools. She watched her husband, Joe and all her older brothers go off to fight in World War II, and did her part as a defense worker at Lockheed. She began a long career as a finisher of fine china for the Flintridge China Co. on Raymond Ave, wich lasted over 30 years. In 1958, she moved to Altadena and began her retirement in the 1980's. She was active with her husband in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, and as a member of Sacred Heart parish. She especially enjoyed her life as "Grandma" and as host to family passing through the Pasadena area. She moved to a retirement home in Apple Valley, CA in 2008 after the loss of her husband, Joe Alex Salcido. She is preceded by her brothers-Ignacio, Jose, Richard, and Hilario Garcia, and by sisters-Beatriz Coffman, Maria Gallegos, Consuelo Iverson, Helen Lawrence, Delfina Ryan, and Celia Gallegos. She is survived by her son, Peter Salcido of Hesperia, CA, brothers Paul (Madge) Garcia of Anchorage, AK, and Peter (Dolores) Garcia of Tijuana, Mex, grandchildren Joseph (Roxanne) Salcido of Bakersfield, CA, Richard (Carol) Salcido of Portland, TN, Loretta Turner of Victorville, CA, Robert (Anne) Salcido of Corona, CA, Sheri (Curdis) Holloway of Westminister, CA, Virginia M. Salcido of Hesperia, CA and Veronica Salcido of Hesperia, CA. Also greatly missing her are 17 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, many nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, and many lifelong and dear friends. Viewing will begin at 4:00 PM on Thursday, Nov 4 at Cabot & Sons, 27 Chestnut St, Pasadena, followed by a rosary at 7:00 PM. Mass will be held Fri Nov 5 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 2889 Lincoln Ave, Altadena. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery after the service.
