Aurelia Stenmo, 97, passed away on April 1, 2014 surrounded by loved ones. Born on October 18, 1916 in Riverside, CA to Carlos and Margarita (Olmedo) Santiago, Aurelia grew up in Azusa, CA and had two brothers, Ignacio and Andrew. Aurelia married the love of her life, Norwegian-born Arthur Stenmo, on January 10, 1935. She was a devoted wife to her late husband and a loving mother of six children: Theresa Morales, Nina Ramirez, MaryAnne Dominguez, Arthur Stenmo, John Stenmo, and Margaret Smith. Grandmother to 34 grandchildren, Aurelia is survived by over 100 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funny and caring, Aurelia filled countless rooms with laughter and always gave thoughtful birthday cards with individually selected stickers to her loved ones. Resilient and wise, Aurelia was a dedicated Catholic, happily collected rocks, and tended to her beloved garden at her Azusa home where she resided for about eighty years.
Custer Christiansen Mortuary in Covina has been entrusted with arrangements.
