Eliza Reyes Fonseca of Covina passed away on May 14th, at the age of 95 in Azusa, California, surrounded by her family of three generations. Born October 21, 1918, Eliza was the youngest of 9 children born to Fernando and Ascension Reyes in Los Angeles, CA. Preceding her in death was her husband Jesus Fonseca, to whom she was married for 46 years. She is survived by children Rudy Fonseca (Diane), Jesus Fonseca Jr. (Janet), Juanita Benavidez (John), and Melinda Yamashita (David). Eliza's legacy also includes 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was a caretaker for all and a constant source of maternal love. Eliza (also known as "Lisa" or "Lee" to family and friends) was a homemaker of the greatest ilk, loved to dance, traveled the world as a senior, and enjoyed many trips to the casinos. She was the shining light and touchstone of her family. The family will continue to honor her memory and share her motto in life: "I live for my kids." By Eliza's request there will be no visitation and the family will be holding private services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made in her name to the City of Azusa Senior Center (Attn: Lenore Gonzales) or a local senior center of choice.
Be the first to share your memories or express your condolences in the Guest Book for Eliza Fonseca.
