Alonzo- Jamie Alonzo, 06/28/55 -
09/11/10 - After a 2 yr battle with
breast cancer, Jamie has finished
the race. She walked a good walk
and she kept her faith. Our solace
is that she now has a new body
that is free of pain and she is with
the Lord.
Jamie Lyn Brownwood was
born on 6/28/55 in Pasadena, CA.
She grew up in West Covina,
graduated from WCHS in '73,
and earned a Bachelor's Degree
in H.R. from CSUF in '78. Jamie
was married to Ruben Alonzo on
9/10/83, they resided in Covina,
CA with their 4 kids. Jamie spent
most of her time helping others; at
home, church, her children's
schools, or at work. She had a big
heart for kids and the needy, and
was always doing a kind deed to
help another. Her love and
enthusiasm was contagious.
For 20+ yrs she worked as a
checker at Albertson's in West
Covina. She was an Awana
Leader at CCV for 20+ yrs, and
helped with VBS and Sunday
School. She spent time as a sub in
the Charter Oak School District
and volunteered time in her kids
classes. She had been treasurer of
the PTA at both Cedargrove and
ROIS. In her "spare" time, you
could find her watching one of
her kids' and/or nieces' and
nephews' sporting events, helping
in the snack bar or even running
the team.
She is survived by her
husband Ruben Alonzo, 4 kids,
and 6 grandkids. Daughter Noel
Alonzo-Gormley (Atticus), Ryan,
step-children Saydie and Fawn;
son Job (Valeri), Devenon and
Michelle; son Caleb Alonzo; and
daughter Jazmine Alonzo and
Jada; her mother Charlene
Brownwood; father-in-law
Charlie Alonzo; 4 sisters; Leslie
(and Bill), Jonna (and Roger),
Juli, and Lari Beth (and Larry); 2
brothers John Bruce Jr. and
Daniel (and Susan); along with
many nieces and nephews.
Jamie will be in our hearts
forever and will be missed dearly.
There will be a memorial in
celebration of her life at CCV in
San Dimas on Sat 9/25/10 at
10:00am. All who knew Jamie
are welcome to attend.
