Obituary Condolences

born May 8, 1938 passed away peacefully after a brief illness, on Saturday Jan 22nd in Prescott, Az. He was 72. A 28 year veteran of Pomona Fire Dept, he was a lifelong member of the Calif State Firemans Assoc. After dedicating his life to helping others, he retired in 1990 moving to Chino Valley, Az where he lived with his surviving wife of 51 years, Peggy. He is also survived by sons Alan & Ted, both of Hesperia, daughter Kerry, of Costa Mesa, sister Judy of Lake Havasu & much loved nieces & nephews. Also, his beloved furry friends Bucky, Dennis, Jack & Opal. During his life, he loved cars, dirt bikes, boating, and Lake Havasu where his family had a vacation home. He & Peggy enjoyed camping & traveling as much as possible. Years past he was a great bowler in which his entire family participated. He attended Chaffey, Mt Sac, & Rio Hondo colleges and was an avid reader. In recent years, he loved his custom cars & sharing stories with friends. He loved to chat. He was a founding member & past president of Mountain Top Street Rodders, as well as Pomona Valley Boat & Ski Club & member of the Over The Hill Gang in San Bernardino. He was an avid Nascar & drag race fan. Jim had the need for speed. A wonderful husband & father, he will be sorely missed by many. It was a privilege to know him, love him and BE loved by him. He was noble, patriotic, honest and hardworking. A memorial service will be held Thursday February 3, 2011, at Hampton Funeral Home in Prescott, Az at 11 AM, followed by a luncheon at the Babbitt Home in Chino Valley, Az.
