Joan K. (Lenox) Wiley
82, wife of Francis L. Wiley, passed away peacefully at her home in Redlands on April 18, 2012, surrounded by her family, after a courageous two year battle against ovarian cancer. Joan was born January 2, 1930 in Elizabeth, NJ. She was the third of five girls. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eva Mae Lenox and her older sisters, Rita Wolf and Jeri Lenox. Joan moved with her family to San Bernardino from New Jersey in 1944. She graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1947 and earned an Associates degree from Crafton Hills College in Accounting in 1983. She was employed as a bookkeeper with Reuben's Restaurant and Mail Boxes Etc. Joan dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker as well as to her community through her volunteerism. After raising her two children, Mark Wiley and Dawn (Wiley) Butler, she pursued her love of art and became a professional watercolorist. She volunteered for over 30 years with the Redlands Art Association holding the position of Treasurer for over 25 years. She was accepted into Watercolor West as an Associate member, held a seat on their board and enjoyed membership in the Yucaipa and Loma Linda Art Associations. Joan is survived by her husband of 51 years, Francis L. Wiley of Redlands; her son Mark (Linda) Wiley of Yucaipa, her daughter Dawn (Patrick) Butler of Redlands; two sisters, Roni Carroll of Redding, CA. and Mary (Bob) Weibusch of Sonoma, CA; as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. The family has decided to honor Joan privately and will not be having a public service. Joan was loved by so many and the Wiley family is eternally grateful for that love and support during Joan's life, illness and passing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Redlands Art Association Building Fund which was dear to Joan's heart. Donations may be made to Building Fund, Redlands Art Association, 215 E. State Street, Redlands, CA 92373-5232.
