Obituary Condolences

The moment you find out a loved one has passed away is very defining. There is an instance before you hear the news that you hope. You hope that what you know in your heart is true is actually just a cruel trick. And that it's not true. Then there's the second the words leave the messengers lips and go into your ears. You almost don't comprehend them. You're stuck for that millisecond thinking, "What? No, no this isn't right" but then, the instant that follows hits you like a brick wall. An elephant sits on your chest as it sinks in that, they're gone. They are really gone. No more going out to dinner, no more watching football with them. It's an absolute feeling. No if, ands, or buts about it. They're gone, and never coming back. ~ Peter Seumalo, Grandson APELU "SAM" SEUMALO
Sam Seumalo, 79, of Redlands passed away on May 4, 2013 in Redlands, California. Visitation will be at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary on Monday May 13, 2013 at 4pm to 8pm. Born September 23, 1933 in American Samoa, he joined the US Air Force and worked as a flight engineer for 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Misako, whom he married in 1965. Together they moved to Redlands in 1967, where he was stationed at Norton AFB until his retirement. Also surviving him are his two children, Ken Seumalo, and Ani Seumalo, as well as two grandchildren Peter Seumalo and David Seumalo. Sam was an avid racquetball player at the Drayson Center in Loma Linda, where he played 3-4 times per week for several years. Other interests include watching his grandsons play sports, where he was a regular sight sitting on the sidelines with his sun hat and chair. He will be greatly missed.
