Rita L. Glasow
Rita L. Glasow, 59, of Kiel, died Thursday morning, November 21, 2013 at Willowdale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was the former Rita L. Schmidt, born April 4, 1954 in Fond du Lac, daughter of the late Leonard & Murrel (Huebner) Schmidt.
Rita was a graduate of New Holstein High School.
On March 25, 1995 she married Gerald Glasow at Bethel United Methodist Church.
Rita worked for many years at the Salvatorian Center, New Holstein and Tecumseh Products, New Holstein. She currently had been a teachers aid at various schools in the area until her retirement due to health issues.
She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, New Holstein, where she was a member of the Bethel Babes and served as the church secretary.
Rita enjoyed spending time with her husband Gerald and daughter Michelle as well as sewing, cooking and taking motorcycle rides.
Survivors include her husband Gerald of Kiel, daughter, Michelle Glasow, Kiel, sister, Gladys (Scott) Rickert, Kiel, niece, Ashley Rickert, nephew, Derek Rickert and grand niece, Eloise. She is further survived by her mother-in-law, Evangeline Glasow, brother-in-law, Jerome (Nancy) Glasow, along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Theodore "Ted" Glasow.
Funeral services for Rita will be held at 4:00pm Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 10509 Meggers Road, New Holstein with Pastor Susan Safford-Gaul officiating.
Burial will take place in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the church on Sunday from 2:00pm until the time of service.
A memorial has been established for Bethel United Methodist Church.
Rita's family would like to extend their thanks to Matthews Oncology and Willowdale Nursing & Rehab Center for the wonderful care she received and church members and friends who helped with transportation to medical appointments.
