Brigitte H. Gahagan, age 79, of Sheboygan, died on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee. She was born in Germany on August 1, 1934, the daughter of the late George R. and Marie H. Künzel Schelzke.
Brigitte attended schools in East Germany and immigrated to the United States in the winter of 1958. On May 13, 1974 Brigitte became a U.S. Citizen. She was united in marriage to Robert F. Gahagan in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2013. Brigitte was employed at Bemis Manufacturing for over fourteen years, retiring in 2000.
She enjoyed bowling, tending to her flowers, country music, dancing, especially the "twist", talking on the phone to her sisters in Germany and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. Brigitte was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and Milwaukee Brewer fan also. She will be remembered for her kind heart and helping her friends and family any way she could.
Survivors include her seven children, James Wolf, Bruce (Bonnie) Wolf, Karen (Mike) Mertes, Dawn (Jeffrey) Damrow, Bobbi Jo (Kevin) Cini, Patricia Joy Gahagan, and Peter (Sara) Gahagan. Brigitte is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Zackary Wolf, Wyatt Cullinan, Jack Wolf, Bruce Wolf Jr., Amy Hein, Alexander Toutant, Olivia Toutant, Jennifer Wolf, Cassandra Cini, Haley Ferlingere and Jorden Fanslau; eleven great-grandchildren, Zackary Wolf, Audrey Wolf, Sam Wolf, Kory Wolf, Chloe Wolf, Nicholas Hein, Ben Hein, Immanuel Contreras, Jalynn Atkins, Braden Atkins and Carter Fanslau; two sisters, Margaret (Walhter) Ponert and Renate Schäfer; and special friends; Valerie Thalacker, Bob and Darlene Ladwig and Carol Pearson. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandchild.
A funeral service for Brigitte will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 2:30 P.M. at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6706 Superior Ave., Kohler with Rev. James Hartmann, officiating. Family and friends may call at the Mausoleum on Thursday afternoon from 12:30 P.M. until the time of service at 2:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Brigitte's name. A heartfelt thank you is extended to staff at the Aurora Medical Centers in Sheboygan and Milwaukee.
