Gorr, Carl J.
Carl J. Gorr, 83, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center.
Carl was born on September 13, 1930 in Sheboygan, a son to the late Fred and Alma (Spalinger) Gorr. He graduated from Sheboygan Central High School. Carl served in the Army
stateside during the Korean Conflict
. On June 23, 1956 he was united in marriage to Janet Boeldt and together they had three children. He later married Janet Herbst Jorsch on August 28, 1976. Carl had been employed with various companies including Georgia Pacific. At the time of his retirement he was employed by the City of Sheboygan at the Armory. Carl served a term as Alderman for the city.
Carl was an outdoorsman being an avid Muskie fisherman and spending many enjoyable times with family at his cottage in Boulder Junction. He also greatly enjoyed woodworking.
Carl was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Carl was a dedicated family man and is survived by his wife, Janet; a son, Rick (Karen) Gorr of Sheboygan, daughters, Debbra Gorr and Jodine Gorr Kellogg both of Sheboygan Falls; his stepchildren, Audrey Van Ess (Dale) of Elkhart Lake, Thomas Jorsch of Sheboygan and his special friend, Elaine, Kathryn Jorsch of Delafield and Timothy (Jennifer) Jorsch of Kohler; three grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, Stacy Raatz and her daughter Jalen, Stephanie (Justin) Maier ;and their children, Jackson and Alexis and Shari (Brian) Hess and their children, Hailey, Jacob and Eli; four step grandchildren and a step grandson, Kristin Van Ess and son, Devon, Joel Van Ess, Jamison Van Ess and Cassandra Van Ess; and a brother, Harold (Vonnie) Gorr of Sheboygan. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Melvin Gorr and a sister Marion Seibold.
A Memorial Service for Carl will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 17 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Adam Scheblein officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church, 1634 Illinois Ave. on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
