Olson, Carol P.
Carol P. Olson, age 84, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Newry, WI on February 9, 1928 the daughter of the late Sigurd and Clara Berg Amundson.
She attended Westby and Viroqua High School and La Crosse Beauty Culture School. Carol was a homemaker and took great pride in raising her four children. She was a member, a former deacon and part of the Ruth Circle at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Carol was also involved in the Sons of Norway and a volunteer at local nursing homes as well as for meals at the Salvation Army.
Survivors include her son, Jon (Lisa) Olson of Sheboygan; her daughters, Nancy Olson of Ft. Myers, FL, Sonja (Jeffrey) Leicht of Cleveland, WI, Sherri (Jeffrey) Schumann of Omaha, NE; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Vicki) Filz, Jon (Katie) Leicht, Danny Schumann, Christopher Schumann, Stephanie Schumann, Andrew Olson, Ian Olson; great-grandchildren, Lily, Anna and Griffin Leicht, Reece Schumann and very special niece Dayna (Ron) Schultz.
Carol is further survived by all her "family at Arabella's," her former husband Vernon (Joyce) Olson, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too many to mention. Her parents, brothers Orville, Dean and Dick Amundson, all preceded her in death.
A memorial service for Carol will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 2:00P.M. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1711 S. 11th St., Sheboygan ,with Rev. Helen A. Nickel, officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday afternoon from 12:00P.M. until the time of service at 2:00P.M. Burial will take place at Coon Valley Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
Carol's family would like to express their sincere heart-felt thank yous to Dr. Kumar, Dr. Haid and all the wonderful and compassionate staff of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center Sheboygan for their great care during the past 18 months. Also, thank you to Dr. Oosting and the staff at Sheboygan Aurora Memorial Medical Center for the special care and comfort they provided in her final days.
Carol will be remembered as the most wonderful, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her smile warmed the hearts of everyone she encountered. Carol never knew a stranger, as they were friends she hadn't met.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Sheboygan County Humane Society.
