Clemens Franzen, 94, passed away early Sunday morning, March 30, 2014 at Countryside Manor where he had been residing.

Born February 8, 1920 in Chilton, WI, Clemens was a son of the late Nicholas and Katie Giebl Franzen. He attended Chilton area schools. He then went on to serve his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. During his service to his country, he participated in the invasions of Africa, Sicily and France before moving on to Belgium, Holland and Germany. For his heroic service, he was awarded two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars and a Silver Star.

On September 14, 1946, he was united in marriage to June M. Lemkuil.

Clem was printer at the Sheboygan Press for 45 years before his retirement. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, June; his two sons, David (Susan) Franzen, Sheboygan, and Timothy (Monica) Franzen, Sterling Heights, MI; three grandchildren, Eric (Chris) Franzen, Sheboygan, Kay Franzen, Waukesha, and Amy (Kyle) Alexander, Seatle, WA; three great grandchildren, Dani and Elle Franzen, and Nathan Alexander; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

According to Clem's wishes. private family services will be held at Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Entombment will take place in Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name for Sheboygan County Meals of Wheels.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Countryside Manor and Serenity Hospice for all of their loving care and support shown to Clem and his family.
