Cowles, Jan Michael

Jan Michael Cowles, after a bravely fought, yearlong battle with lung cancer, departed into the loving arms of Jesus on September 15, 2012, from the loving arms of his wife at their home in Lakewood, Colo.

Jan was born April 13, 1955, to Dey and Vernette Cowles in Manchester, Iowa and grew up in Sheboygan, Wis.

After graduating from Northwestern University, he attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and earned two Master's Degree's, one from Colorado Christian University in Biblical Counseling and one from Denver Seminary in Old Testament. Jan loved to study the Word of God and his home library numbers in the thousands.

Jan was a pastor for several churches in Wisconsin, South Dakota and Colorado. He was also a professor at Rocky Mountain Bible Institute and Headwaters Bible Institute.

They went on mission trips together to Thailand and Kenya. He also went to Cuba, Greece, Turkey, Israel and spent a summer with the Choco Indians in Panama. More than anything, he was loved by everyone he met. He was a patient, kind and gentle man who always saw and brought out the best in everyone.
