Guttenberg, Joseph E.
Joseph E. Guttenberg, age 57, of Sheboygan, died on Monday, April 07, 2014, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. He was born in California at Travis Air Force Base on June 14, 1956, the son of Eugene and Joan Yahn Guttenberg.
Joseph attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1974. He then attended UW-Whitewater and earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Finance. Joseph was employed at Fresh Brands/Piggly Wiggly Midwest as a forklift operator for over thirty years, retiring in 2007.
On September 30, 2002 he was united in marriage to Connie Hughes in Las Vegas. Joseph was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Joseph was also an avid Wisconsin Sports Fan.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; parents, Eugene and Joan; a sister, Sue Guttenberg, all of Sheboygan; a mother-in-law, Beverly Buss, of Greenbush; a step- daughter, LeAnne (Isaias) Vasquez, of Sheboygan; a step-son, Tony (Kristi) Flores, of Little Chute; grandchildren, Aviana, Noah, Dominick, Eilee and Stella; and his aunt, Jane Wedl, of Jefferson, WI. He is further survived by many other relatives, friends and his dog, Fritzie. Joseph was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Eugene Buss; maternal grandparents, Nina and Gilbert Yahn; paternal grandparents, Evelyn and Raymond Guttenberg; his aunt, Ellen Gerondale and an uncle, Donald Yahn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1305 Humboldt Ave., Sheboygan with Rev. Paul Fliss, officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the time of Mass at 11:00 A.M.. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Atkinson, WI.
Joseph's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Kerpe and his assistant Carrie, and the entire ICU Staff at St. Nicholas Hospital for the compassion and care that was given to him.
