Joyce E. Konz, age 81, of Sheboygan, died Saturday morning, September 21, 2013.
She was born January 31, 1932 in Sheboygan to Eric R. and Hilda E. (Zastrow) Hinz. She attended local grade schools and South Side Jr. High until she moved to Ventura, California where she completed her education.
She was previously married to Donald Keniston and traveled frequently during his tour of duty in the US Air Force.
She returned to Sheboygan and on September 14, 1968 she married Harold A.
"Bo Bo" Konz in Sheboygan. They enjoyed the area festivals and playing bingo together. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1989.
Joyce was a former member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
She also enjoyed bird watching, gardening, reading, working word search puzzles, and was one of Elvis' biggest fans. One of her most memorable experiences was when she appeared on the television show "Queen For A Day" and was actually crowned "Queen."
She was a wonderful homemaker who loved being surrounded by children, family, and friends.
Joyce is survived by two daughters, Deborah Den Dekker of Sheboygan, Michelle (friend, Robert) Konz of Fort Dodge, IA; three sons, Brian (Karen) Keniston of Lake Zurich, IL, Richard Keniston, and Michael (Stacey) Konz both of Sheboygan; seven grandchildren, Angela (Jeremy Wiltzius) Keniston, Tony (Elizabeth) Den Dekker, Jennifer (Josh Gile) Den Dekker, Raeann Salzwedel, Davidson Higgins, and Bryana Theobald; eight great-grandchildren, Austin, Alexis, Kya, Isabella, Justus, Corbin, Ethan, and Cameron; one sister-in-law, Margaret Hinz of Sheboygan; one nephew, Eric (Jori) Hinz; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Keniston; her sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn (Bernard) Gottsacker; two brothers, Orlet Hinz and Donald Hinz; and one nephew, Rev. Alan Hartfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Gregory S. Whelton will officiate. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ballhorn Chapels and Thursday morning at Ballhorn from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
