Mrs. Lorraine Huiras, of Fredonia, passed away early Saturday morning, January 12, 2013, at Cedar Gardens in Cedarburg, where she had been residing for the last seven weeks. She was 91 years old. Lorraine was born on the family farm just outside of Waubeka on November 13, 1921, daughter of Matthew and Mathilda Goedde. She attended local schools and helped out on the farm while she was young. On February 25, 1941 she was united in marriage with Lester Huiras at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Kohler. The couple settled on the Huiras family farm in Little Kohler and raised their family. Mrs. Huiras also worked as an assembler at Regalware in Kewaskum, retiring in 1983. Lester preceded her in death shortly after. Lorraine was a member of Divine Savior, St. Rose Parish, Fredonia. She loved to crochet, was an avid reader and enjoyed baking. Lorraine looked forward to a good game of sheepshead, and never met a hickory nut she couldn't crack. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Huiras is survived by her two children: Vernon (Carolyn) Huiras of Fredonia and Letha (Michael) Helminger of Cascade, as well as six grandchildren: George, Steve, Kathleen, Michele, Brian and Linda. She is further survived by 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband and 2 sisters, Dolores Goedde and Eleanore Stahl. Funeral Services will be held at 3PM on Tuesday, January 15 at Divine Savior, St. Rose Chapel, Fredonia. Father Todd Budde will preside. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. John The Baptist Cemetery, Waubeka. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Tuesday from 1-3PM.
