Schrage, Louis G. Jr.
Louis G. Schrage Jr., age 86, of Mount Calvary, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Woodlands Senior Park in Fond du Lac.
He was born November 16, 1926, in Mount Calvary, to the late Louis Sr. & Rose (Fritz) Schrage. Louis attended Holy Cross Catholic Grade School in Mount Calvary and Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac.
Louis served in the Navy from June 29, 1944 to July 7, 1946. On February 7, 1948, he married Ethel Steffes at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. Louis owned Schrage Oil Co. from 1946 until selling it to O'Conner Oil in the middle 1976 and he continued to work for them until retiring in 1988.
He was a member of St. Isidore Parish - Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary, a member of the Mount Calvary American Legion Abler-Engel Post 454, and the Mount Calvary Athletic Club where he helped schedule basketball tournaments. Louis was a retired member of the Mount Calvary Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Winnebago East Shore Lions Club.
It has been said the Louis was the "most avid Packer fan". He loved God, his family, and the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Schrage of Mount Calvary; his two daughters, Phyllis (Gonzalo) Velez of Hendersonville, NC and Sue (Tim) Milligan of Mount Calvary; his daughter-in-law, Diana Schrage of Kohler; his four, beloved grandchildren, Danielle (Dylan) Larson of LaCrosse, WI, Lief Stevens of Asheville, NC, Colleen Milligan (Jon Andrew) of Chico, CA, and Erin Milligan-Mattes (Greg Mattes) of Bloomington, IN; a brother-in-law, Joe (Beverly) Steffes of Portage, WI; two sisters-in-law, Margie Steffes of Oshkosh, Serena Quackenboss of Fond du Lac and special nieces, nephews, and god children
Preceding him in death were his parents, Louis Sr. (Rose) Schrage; his son, Daniel Schrage; and a sister, Betty (Vernon) Abler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at St. Isidore Parish - Holy Cross Church 308 County Road W in Mount Calvary. Rev. Michael Bertram OFM Cap. will officiate. Military Rites conducted by the Abler-Engel Post 454 will take place at the church following Mass. Louis will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation: Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 4-8 PM and at St. Isidore Parish - Holy Cross Church Tuesday morning from 10:00 - 10:45 AM.
