Marie A. Kregel

Marie A. Kregel, 91, of Sheboygan, passed away Monday, January 07, 2013 at St. Nicholas Hospital. Marie was born September 29, 1921 in Sheboygan to the late Anton and Ursula (Zupancic) Smerke. She attended Ss. Cyril and Methodius School before graduating from Central High School in 1939. On January 27, 1951, she married Adolph Kregel. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1975.

Marie was employed by American Chair, then Thonet from 1940 until 1982. She was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Christian Women, the KSKJ, SNPJ, VFW Auxiliary Post 9156 and the Catholic Charity Club.

She worked at the church picnic in the envelope booth for a number of years. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, reading and socializing with her many friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jo (Tim) Heidenreiter, Sheboygan Falls and Joann (Charles) Hermann, Cleveland; two grandchildren, Eric (Sara) Heidenreiter and Becki (AJ) Grulkowski and one brother, Anthony Smerke.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister-in-law, Vivian.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church (822 New Jersey Avenue, Sheboygan) with the Rev. Richard Cerpich officiating. Friends may call on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
