Blackburn, Paul E. (1931-2014)
Paul E. "Mr. B" Blackburn, age 83 of Elkhart Lake (formerly of Plymouth), passed away late Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 6) surrounded by his loving family at the home of his daughter in which he had been residing for the past 15 months.
He was born on July 21, 1931 in Winona, Minnesota, a son of the late Carl and Catherine (Fitzpatrick) Blackburn.
He attended Winona grade schools in Minnesota and graduated from Cotter High School in Minnesota in 1949.
Paul served in the U.S. Army
during the Korean War
. After the war, he worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Minnesota for many years.
On April 7, 1956, Paul married Mary Jo Krenzke at St. John Catholic Church in Winona, MN. The couple resided in Minnesota after their marriage, moving to Plymouth, WI in 1966. Mary preceded him in death on May 7, 2013.
He was employed as a machinist for Gilson Brothers Lawn Boy Company (now known as Toro Company) in Plymouth for many years retiring in 1992.
Paul coached the Plymouth Orange Pee-Wee League for 29 years and enjoyed every minute of it and loved those kids like his own. He was the first person inducted into the Plymouth Youth Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1994. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include two sons: David (Donna) Blackburn of Sheboygan Falls and Roger Blackburn of Milwaukee; four daughters: Karen (Ron) Wright of Two Rivers, Linda Otte of Illinois, Debbie (Paul) Pfeifer of Sheboygan Falls and Brenda (Larry) Wright of Elkhart Lake; one sister-in-law: Sharon Krenzke of Wabasha, MN; fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
Paul was preceded in death by one son Douglas; one grandson Tyler Wright; one son-in-law: Donald Otte and one brother-in-law: Charles Krenzke.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday Evening (August 10) at 7:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Fr. Daniel Lasecki will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Valor Veteran section at Greenlawn Memorial Park in the Town of Sheboygan.
Friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 4:00 P.M. on Sunday (August 10) until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Paul's name.
