Theodore H. (Ted) Zimmermann
Theodore H. (Ted) Zimmermann, 85, a lifelong resident of Sheboygan, passed away surrounded by his loving wife and children on Saturday May 11th, 2013. As he left this world, he was reunited with his mother and father, and brother and sister.
Ted was born on July 11, 1927 to Theodore and Hilda (Neese) Zimmermann. He attended local schools, and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1946.
During school Ted was active in many sports. After high school, Ted enlisted in the US Army
and proudly served our country during post WWII
. At that time, Ted received a hardship discharge to care for his ailing father. Ted again served his country during the Korean Conflict
. Ted truly was part of the greatest generation.
On May 9, 1959, Ted was united in matrimony to his beloved, Marlene Schaafs. Together, they built a family of love, adventure, and hope.
During Ted's working years he was employed by the Vollrath Company for over 35 years. Ted retired from Vollrath in 1991.
After retirement Ted and Marlene traveled the world. Ted enjoyed his travels to Japan, throughout Europe, Mexico to celebrate his 40th Anniversary, as well as many domestic trips. But the best trips in Ted's mind were his excursions with Marlene to Gary's home for Movie Night, to Milwaukee for lunch with Mark and Carole, and to Chicago to see Todd and John for a multitude of adventures.
Ted was a lifetime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. He was also a member of American Legion Post 83, and the Sheboygan County Old Timers Baseball Association. After retirement, Ted volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 20 years. Throughout Ted's life he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending time in his beautiful backyard with family and friends. Ted was an avid sports fan of all Wisconsin teams, especially the Packers and Brewers, and loved the time he spent with his family cheering on his teams.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marlene, and their three boys, Mark (Carole Kasprzycki), Gary (special friend Joni Miklich), and Todd (John Hoerst). He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Doris Zimmermann, brother-in-law Arno Albrecht (Juanita), and sister-in-law Sharlee (Larry) Fox. He is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. An amazing group of life long friends from every walk of Ted's life also survive him.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Leroy, his sister Mildred, his father-in-law, Felix Schaafs and his mother-in-law, Elfrieda Schaafs, his brother-in- law Schimel, his sister-in-law Millie, and brother-in-law Jerry. He was also preceded in death by his niece Jeanne, and his nephew Ray, along with so many wonderful friends that blessed his life.
A service to celebrate Ted's life will be held at Reinbold- Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S.12th Street, in Sheboygan on Tuesday, May14th at 3:00 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Sheboygan, with full military rights. A memorial will be established in his name.

Ted's family would like to thank staff at Progressive Care Center, as well as the wonderful nursing staff at Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care that was provided to him. We will miss him dearly and wonder how to say good-bye to someone who will be with us forever.
