Krumenauer, Dr. Kristine Sue
Dr. Kristine Sue Krumenauer of the Crystal Lake area and formerly New Holstein, was called to her heavenly home after an eight year battle with breast cancer on Sept. 22, 2012.
Kris was born the 17th day of November, 1951, in Madison, Wis., to Duane and Dorothy Kundert of Sauk City, Wis. Kris grew up in Sauk City, attended Sauk Prairie schools and graduated in 1969. She was united in marriage to Bob Krumenauer on June 10, 1972, at First United Church of Christ in Sauk City.
Kris was a Professor of Art Education at Marian University of Fond du Lac, Wis., for 18 years. She had a passion for the arts in education and shared that passion with the future teachers she taught. Kris was an active servant leader and disciple at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Kiel, Wis. Her ministries there included Mendelssohn Choir, Crocus Cluster, Handbells, Christian Education, Confirmation, Worship Ministry Team, and pulpit supply. Kris wove her teaching spirit and creativity into every aspect of the life of the church. She carried a strong faith which she used to promote social justice and awareness for those oppressed and exploited. At the state level, she was an active member of the Wisconsin Conference United Church of Christ Art Committee, Worship Committee, Lay Academy and as an Art Consultant. Kris recently began consultant work to assist churches interested in developing worship ministry teams and/or enhancing church sanctuaries to create sacred space.
She loved teaching! She taught her grandchildren how to spin wool, sew, make paper, make puppets, create sculptures, knit, crochet and everything in between. She spent endless hours working on projects for her family, church and friends. She selflessly gave her love to others, not expecting anything in return. She gave… and gave… and gave. The unconditional love she gave was and will continue to live and be returned to her a thousand-fold.
Kris is survived by her husband, Bob Krumenauer; son, Dan Krumenauer, Viroqua and his two daughters, Savi and Kalil; daughter, Kara Meissen (Ryan), Mukwonago and their son, Croix; parents, Duane and Dorothy Kundert, Sauk City; sisters, Julie Perry (George), Sauk City; Evonne Kundert, LaCrosse; and Karen Ammann, Sauk City.
Kris's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to friends, family and everyone at Matthews Oncology Associates for their support and compassionate attitudes.
Memorial Services are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Kiel, Wis., beginning with a visitation at 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and a celebration of life service at 4 p.m. officiated by Rev. Judine Duerwaechter.
