Emma Beighton Obituary

Beighton, Emma Jean H.

Emma Jean (nee: Kalk) Beighton, 79, passed away at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie on Friday August 26, 2011.

Emma Jean was born in Sheboygan on March 23, 1932 the daughter of the late Leonard and Norma (nee: TerMaat) Kalk.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd H. Beighton on December 24, 1953 in Racine.

Emma Jean was affectionately know as "Jean the Bus Driver" for many years due to her employment as school bus driver for over 25 years and as a Racine City Bus Driver, later retiring as a dispatcher in 1991. She enjoyed crocheting and spending many long hours touring the United States with her husband Lloyd on the back of their motorcycle.

Emma Jean is survived by her daughters, Joanna (James) Hancock of Racine and Dianna Elm of Green Bay, six grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. She is further survived by one sister-in-law, Marjorie Kalk of South Carolina, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Emma Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd on March 14, 1999 and three brothers, Kenneth, Garrett and Franklin Kalk.

Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Wednesday August 31, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mary Ubuntu officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at West Lawn Memorial Park following services. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday August 30, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time.

Those wishing to remember Emma Jean in a special way may send a contribution to Hospice Alliance or American Heart Association.

Emma Jean's family would like to extend a very special thank you to Drs. Mullane, Welsh and Short for their fine care and to Hospice Alliance for their compassion during her illness.

We were so sorry to hear of Jean's passing. She was our neighbor for 40 years. She would always smile and wave as she went past our house. We have fond memories of neighborly chats with her and Lloyd, in their their little log home and beautiful yard. The girls have our deepest sympathy.
