Alvina A. Balde
Alvina A. Balde, age 98, of Sheboygan, died peacefully Tuesday morning, October 8, 2013.
She was born September 23, 1915 in Sheboygan to William and Agnes (Seilius) Ausavich/Wartman.
On August 9, 1939 Alvina and Gottlieb Balde were united in marriage at St. Paul Lutheran Church Parsonage. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1984.
For a number of years Alvina worked at Garton Toy Co. and American Excelsior, but primarily she was a wonderful homemaker and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her home and working in her yard. She also enjoyed reading as well as playing bingo and slots with her friends. She actually played bingo the day after her 98th birthday and won!
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Owen and Carolyn Sue Balde (whom she loved as her daughter) of Cleveland; her grandchildren, Michael (Lynn) Balde of Newton, Angela Cole (Dan Leannah) of Waldo, Thomas (Jamie) Balde of Cleveland, and Sarah Balde (LeRoy Woodfill) of Cleveland; seven great-grandchildren, Josh, Jordan, Jayden, Brittain, Lane, Olivia, and Bode; nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Stolz, Anna Jurk/Ottensmann; her brothers, Joseph Ausavich and Anton Ausavich.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Lutheran Cemetery, Section 7. Reverend Gregory S. Whelton will officiate. A gathering of friends and relatives in celebration of Alvina's life will follow at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels at 11:30 a.m.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
Alvina was a strong, independent woman whose wishes were fulfilled by living in her own home until she quietly passed. She will be dearly missed, but leaves behind a legacy of love.
