Arthur Otto Zenk, 2123 South 16th Street, Sheboygan, passed away on February 1, 2013 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his family. Arthur was born on June 22, 1922 in the City of Sheboygan, son of Anna (Miller) and Otto Zenk. On February 24, 1944, he was united in marriage to Agnes Blazich at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. His wife and love of his life, Agnes, passed away on April 9, 2011.
Artie served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. In October 2011, he took part in the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., accompanied by his niece, Barbara Progar. He was employed at Office Supply & Printing Company for 34 years, Weavers for six years, and retired from Donahue Engineering in 1994.
Artie celebrated his 90th birthday in June and was surrounded by over 100 friends and family at his son's coffee shop, Z Spot Espresso & Coffee. Up until a few years ago, Artie was an avid tennis player and golfer and was a member of "The Legends" at Riverdale. He was proud of his four holes-in-one. When he could no longer participate in these sports, he enjoyed them through books and TV. He had a strong unwavering Christian faith, and up until recently never missed a Sunday at his beloved Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Our Dad was truly a special man. He touched the hearts of all who knew him with his kind and gentle ways. We will miss him.
Artie is survived by two daughters, Patty (Jim) Johnson, Fond du Lac and Suzanne "Suzie" Zenk, Sheboygan; a son, Jeffrey Zenk and special friend, Joan Rogers, Sheboygan; grandchildren Travis Zenk, Margo Zenk, Kristi (Jon) Oeflein and Kimberly Johnson; great-grandchildren Nicolas and Carter Oeflein; his brother Fritz Zenk, many nieces, nephews , and other relatives and friends. He is also survived by his special adopted family Clem and Pushpa Anson, and their daughters Courtney and Colleen, and his daughter-in-law Paula Switalski. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, George, and one sister, Virginia.
A funeral service for Artie will be held on Friday, February 8 at 12:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1634 Illinois Avenue, Sheboygan with Rev. Adam Scheblein officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held at Greendale Cemetery.
The Zenk family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who visited the "White House" on South 16th Street to spend time with our Dad. Everyone enjoyed his dry wit and listening to his stories from the past.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Artie's name.
