Charles L. Sullivan, 83, of New Holstein, died peacefully Sunday morning, May 12, 2013 at Willowdale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein.
He was born July 26, 1929 in Fort Atkinson, son of the late Charles & Florence (Matzen) Sullivan.
He was a a graduate of New Holstein High School.
Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954 serving in Washington State and California.
He had previously been married to Dorene Koenig.
He was a printer for the New Holstein Reporter for many years until his retirement.
Charles was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Kiel Senior Center, as well as the American Red Cross. He also was a member of the Singing Seniors, Kiel.
Charles enjoyed listening to big band music, socializing with people and always had a joke to tell.
Survivors included his four children: Debbie (Randy) Mueller, rural Plymouth, Connie Doucette, Green Bay, Michael Sullivan, Milwaukee, Steve Sullivan, Green Bay and six grandchildren; Jeremy (Jenny) Doucette, Josh Doucette, Amanda (Damon) Sanford, Adam (Abbie) Doucette, Grace & Connor Sullivan. He is further survived by six great grandchild; Tyler, Drew, Archer, Ryan, Bella, Jace, and a dear friend, Loretta Krenz, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence (George) Linquist, Charles Sullivan, former wife, Dorene VanDeHei, son-in-law, Gary Doucette and sister, Charleen (Earl) Gjuka.
Funeral services for Charles will be held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel with Deacon Pat Knier officiating.
Burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery, Sheboygan.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 pm until the time of service.
Full military services will be held at the funeral on Thursday.
