Daniel H. Grandlic

Daniel H. Grandlic, 54, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, December 30, 2013 at home.

Dan was born June 9, 1959 in Sheboygan to Jack and Fran (Meyer) Grandlic.

Dan attended Sheboygan grade schools and was a graduate of Sheboygan South High School, class of 1978.

At the time of his death, Dan was employed at American Excelsior in Sheboygan as a shipping and receiving warehouse lead. Previously, Dan was employed as a truck driver at Motor Transport and Bemis Manufacturing. Always reliable, Dan was very proud that he had twenty-five years of safe driving and perfect attendance record since 1978.

On June 21, 1986 Dan and Julia Hensel were united in marriage at St. Peter Claver Church in Sheboygan. For 27 years, Dan and Julia built a life together that was made richer with the love of family, children, and friends.

Dan was an avid boater and loved being on the water. Dan was an accomplished water skier, and he shared that love with many family and friends by teaching them to waterski. In 2011 Dan and his family took a weeklong trip to the British Virgin Islands sailing on a Catamaran - a memory that will always be treasured. He was also a self-taught chainsaw woodcarver and many of his works can be found throughout Sheboygan. Dan loved to be busy and found many hobbies and projects that he enjoyed and that helped others.

Dan was an active and valued member of the Sheboygan Yacht Club, serving on their Board of Directors and heading up their grounds committee. He also envisioned a new patio and pavilion for the Yacht Club which he saw through to completion in June of 2013 - putting in many hours of his time in its construction.

All who knew Dan, knew him to be a caring and helpful man. He was handy and could do just about anything - often assisting elderly family friends and his parents. If he found a job to be done, he made sure it was done well.

In December, both of Dan's children graduated from college, Elizabeth with a degree in Elementary Ed from UW-La Crosse and Adam with a Fire Medic degree from Lakeshore Technical College who is now a licensed Paramedic. Their accomplishments were a great source of pride for Dan.

In addition to his parents, Jack and Fran Grandlic, Dan is survived by his wife, Julia; two children, Elizabeth and Adam Grandlic; a brother, Scott Grandlic; mother and father-in-laws; Janet (Fred) Krier and Scott Hensel and Mary Hensel; a niece, Heather (Matt) Mayer; three nephews, Christopher, Patrick, and Ryan Grandlic; godmother, Barbara (John) White; and many other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:30pm on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Father Paul Fliss will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held on Friday from 3:00pm until the time of service at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
