Dean Robert Clappes went to the loving arms of his Lord to be rejoined with his wife and family on Sunday evening, August 19, 2012, after a brave struggle with dementia, at Azura Memory Care in Sheboygan.

Dean was born to the late Henry and Jane (Krenke) Clappes on November 22, 1932, the youngest of 3 sons. He married Rhona Ann Klapper on November 28, 1953 and shared 54 loving years with her until her passing in April of 2008. Together they raised 9 children. Dean worked for various businesses throughout his life ranging from Purchasing Manager and Sales Representative from the Manawa area earlier in his career to the Sheboygan area until his retirement from KamArt of Manawa. He was also an Alderman for the City of Manawa for a number of years before moving to Howard's Grove, a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and an Honorary Member of the Howard's Grove Athletic Club. Dean enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers, hunting in the woods near his childhood home outside Ogdensburg Wisconsin with his son, David, sons-in-law and grandsons, and always had a good story about past deer hunts. In his younger years he played in a Polka Band called the Polka Aces which was formed with friends from his high school years. They played many weddings in and around the Manawa area for many years. He still enjoyed his music up to the end always keeping the beat. He also enjoyed golfing ,going out for dinner with Cathie and Bob, getting together out on the Chain in Waupaca with our annual family day at Tom's, hunting trips with David and going up north to the trailer in Pickerel.

Dean is survived by eight of his nine children and their spouses: Debbie and Herb Trinrud, Scandinavia, Terri Allen, New London, Cathie and Bob Stelow, Greenville, Dean and Paula Clappes, Oshkosh, Tom and Wendy Clappes, Waupaca, Tim Clappes, West Allis, David and Holly Clappes, Howards Grove, and Julie Clappes (Kevin Jordi), Sheboygan. 16 Grandchildren: Randall(Christine) Trinrud, Eric, (Stacey)Trinrud, Alicia Allen(Fiance Dan Meagher), Heidi Buss, Derek (Candance) Buss, Kelly( Eric) Dewine, Dean Clappes, Mason Clappes, Nicholas(Bryna) Clappes, Nathan Clappes, Thomas Clappes, Megan Sixel, Jacob Clappes , Luke Clappes, Cody Jordi and Casey Jordi. 9 great grandchildren: Nolan, Kailer and Ethan Trinrud, Alivia and Adrianna Trinrud, Destiny Jaworski, Carter Jaworski, Derek Buss Jr. and Adelynn Buss. 4 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law, Lorraine Clappes, Mary Jo (Robert) Bichler, Sandra(Rodney) Taubel, and Susan Loughrin along with many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, a daughter, Sally, his parents and 2 brothers, Homer and Douglas, son-in law, Bruce Allen , step grandson, Gerad Sixel and brother-in-law, Walter J. Klapper.

A Funeral service will be held for Dean on Thursday August 23, 2012 at Zimmer's Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton Road, Sheboygan at 6:30 p.m.. Reverend Daniel Lasecki will officiate. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manawa, WI. The Family with receive Family and Friends at Westview, on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Dean R. Clappes.

The Family would like to thank the staff of Azura Memory Care and Grace Hospice for their care of our Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Also special thanks to Gene Bubolz and Johnny Paters for always being Dad's friends.
