Elaine De Sombre, age 95, of Sheboygan passed away Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Elaine was born August 3, 1917 in Sheboygan to the late Arvin and Martha (Henning) Juckem. Elaine was united in marriage to Walter A. De Sombre on May 3, 1941 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Walter preceded Elaine in death on Dec. 25, 1990.



She worked at the C. Reiss Coal Co. and H.C. Prange Co. for many years until her retirement in 1980. Elaine was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and volunteered at St. Nicholas Hospital for many years. She loved to swim, read, and do crossword puzzles. In her earlier years, Elaine enjoyed playing Canasta with her girlhood friends Lureille, Bea and Margaret. Elaine loved her family dearly and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Elaine is survived by a son Paul (Jan) De Sombre of Elkhart Lake, daughter Mary (Loren) Matzdorf of Sheboygan, grandchildren Adam De Sombre of Sheboygan, Rachel De Sombre of Pewaukee, Sara (Nate) Dassow of Sheboygan, Thomas Matzdorf of Sheboygan Falls, and a great granddaughter Isabelle Dassow of Sheboygan. Elaine is further survived by her brothers Wilfred Juckem of Davenport, IA, Elwood Juckem of Phoenix, AZ, a sister-in-law Bernetta Orsborn of Westerville, OH and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant daughter.

Family and friends may call at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2136 N. 21st St. Sheboygan, on Monday from 10-11:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 A.M. Monday at the church with Rev. Daniel Lasecki officiating. Burial to follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Sheboygan.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Elaine's name.
