Evelyn H. Ortlieb
Evelyn H. Ortlieb, 85, of Kiel died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Oak Creek Assisted Living, Kiel.
She was born February 1, 1929 in Charlestown, daughter of the late Henry & Minnie (Dekker) Danes.
Evelyn attended grade school at Lowell School in the Town of New Holstein and attended New Holstein High School, graduating in 1946.
On October 12, 1948 Evelyn married Alfred Ortlieb of Chilton at St. Martin Catholic Church.
Evelyn and Alfred enjoyed 56 years together until he preceded her in death on October 17, 2004.
Evelyn worked at Tecumseh Products, New Holstein for 33 years, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, the Christian Women Society and was also a member of the Kiel VFW Auxiliary.
Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her grand and great grandchildren and going to their events. She also enjoyed playing cards, going gambling, dancing and loved her beautiful flowers in her yard.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice Conrad, Elkhart Lake, six grandchildren; Patrick (Linda) Ortlieb, Michael Ortlieb, Brenda Conrad, Amanda (Tony) Banas, Troy Conrad (Charmaine), Dawn (Travis) Sander. She is further survived by great grandchildren; Alexandra & Elijah Ortlieb, Madyson & Emjay Ortlieb, Zachary Conrad, Mackenzie & Samantha Banas, Ava & Evan Conrad, Teyton & Kylie Sander, one sister, Caroline Alfson, two sisters-in-law, Bernice Danes & Leona Ortlieb, many special nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. She will be missed by her 4 legged best friend, Sandy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, one son, Daniel, one daughter, Sue Ann, one son-in-law, Cliff Conrad, three sisters; Viola (Herb) Harder, Elizabeth (Alfred) Bender & Marion (Isidore) Endries, two brothers; Herman Danes, Henry Danes Jr. and one brother-in-law, Hubbie Alfson.
The Funeral Mass for Evelyn will be celebrated at 5:00 pm, Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 413 Fremont St., Kiel with Fr. Harold Berryman officiating & Joe Zenk, Parish Director assisting.
Entombment will take place in Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 3:00 pm until 4:45 pm when brief family rites will be held.
Evelyns family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of Oak Creek for the care and friendship they shared with Evelyn. They would also like to thank the many friends and family who visited her over the years and during her illness.
