Harold H. Depping Obituary
Harold H. Depping

Harold H. Depping, age 85, of the Town of Rhine passed away late Sunday afternoon, July 15, at the Plymouth Care Center.

Harold was born August 21, 1926 in the Town of Rhine, a son of the late Esther (Brass) and Walter Depping. Harold attended Victory School and was a member of the Victory Leaders 4-H Club.

On September 24, 1955, Harold married Evelyn Kaufmann at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in the Town of Sheboygan Falls. Harold and Evelyn farmed during their marriage raising registered Holstein cattle and certified seed oats. Eventually, their son, David, joined them in operating the family farm. Harold enjoyed showing swine and Holsteins at the Sheboygan County Fair. He also served as dairy leader for the Johnsonville Hustlers 4-H club for several years. In later years, Harold looked forward to "driving tractor," driving his trusty brown and white Ford pickup truck and "talking farming" with those who came to visit him.

He was a member of Saron United Church of Christ where he had served as trustee, deacon and elder and also was a member of the Senior Choir for many years.

Harold will be remembered for his quiet sense of humor, his love of farming, and his appreciation of dairy products--- especially ice cream.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Evelyn of Plymouth; one daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Tom Howe of Indianapolis, IN; one granddaughter, Anna Davida Depping; a daughter-in-law, Kathy (Ryan) Herzog of Plymouth; a sister and brother-in-law, Vernita and Elmer Gessert of Sheboygan; and nieces and nephews: Tim Gessert, Tom Kaufmann, Susan Paulos, Julie Prinsen, and their families. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his son, David, his brother- and sister-in-law, Erwin and Esther Kaufmann; and a nephew, Dean Gessert.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 19, at 12:00 Noon at Saron United Church of Christ in Town of Sheboygan Falls. Rev. Kathryn Kuhn, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the CHURCH on Thursday Morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to the Saron United Church of Christ, the Sheboygan County 4-H Alumni Association or the Activity Fund of Plymouth Care Center.
