Herman Rautmann

Herman Rautmann, age 84, of Sheboygan passed away early Sunday morning March 10, 2013 at Azura Memory Care in Sheboygan. Herman was born December 16, 1928 in Sheboygan to the late Edwin and Viola (Jurss) Rautmann. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and then graduated from Central High School in 1946. Herman proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1948-1952. He and Helen lived in Bermuda during this time. Herman was united in marriage to the former Helen Hamann on September 8, 1951. Herman was an Executive Vice President at R-Way Furniture for 38 years. Herman and Helen lived in Sheboygan until 1992. They then moved to their cottage on Wilke Lake which Herman built in 1955 and remodeled into a home. They had many good memories of time spent at the lake. He and Helen also had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the U.S.; spending many winters in Florida and traveling the world as well. Herman enjoyed woodworking, carving, gardening, bowling and playing cards. Herman volunteered at the Bethesda Thrift Store for 15 years and more recently at Neat Repeats Store in Plymouth.

Survivors include his loving wife Helen, of 61 years; children Michael (Shari) Rautmann of White Bear Lake, MN, David Rautmann of Town of Sherman, Susan (Kenneth) Hummitzsch of Sheboygan, James (Joy) Rautmann of Plymouth; grandchildren Beth (Ryan) Altergott, Erin (Bryan Hedenstad) Rautmann, Brett Hummitzsch, Joshua Hummitzsch, Eric Hummitzsch,; step grandchildren Stacy (Dr. Kent) Zocher, Molly (Mark) Wissler; great- grandchildren Allie Hedenstad and Cassian Altergott; step great-grandchildren Meghan and Miah Wissler, and Tanner and Tessa Zocher; two brothers Edwin Jr. (Beverly) Rautmann of Plymouth, Richard (Carol) Rautmann of Sheboygan; and sister-in-law Joan Rautmann of Sheboygan. Herman is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Mabel Markworth and Dorothy Rautmann and a brother Leroy Rautmann.

Family and friends may call at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 917 Mead Ave., Sheboygan on Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Funeral will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Marcus Powers officiating. Burial to follow in the Wildwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Herman's name.
